Hyunsun Shin studied stage design at the Korea National University of Arts and worked as a lighting designer and art director before beginning her ceramic practice in Paris in 2021.

In 2024 Solo exhibition SAFE PLACE in Paris.

In 2025 Solo exhibition AS THE WAVE PASSES in Seoul.

Since her time as a lighting designer for performances, her central theme has been exploring how light is not just an entity in itself but a medium that reveals and makes things visible.
Through ceramics, she creates objects that are both narrative and functional, shaping them entirely by hand. She is particularly interested in capturing moments of transformation and impermanence through a material that, once fired, becomes fixed and unchanging.
